Counting and Serving Never-Married Families Seminar

The University of Minnesota Extension - Family Relations Team and the Minnesota Fathers and Families Network are offering eight sessions across Minnesota titled, "Counting and Serving Never-Married Families."

On the same days, you are invited to attend the 2007 Child Abuse Prevention/Strengthening Families Regional meetings offered by Prevent Child Abuse Minnesota, the Children's Trust Fund of the Minnesota Department of Human Services and the Minnesota Initiative Foundations.

Counting and Serving Never-Married Families Seminar

In this three hour seminar you will:

  • Learn key statistics and recent research about never-married parents
  • Gain a better understanding of the national "fragile families" research, with a focus on fatherhood
  • Learn about themes impacting never-married parents including relationship issues, co-parenting styles, and support for children
  • Share concrete ideas for supporting unmarried parents in local program delivery
  • Network with other community professionals on topics of fatherhood and family development

Cost is $10.00 payable at the door. MFFN members may attend at no charge.

2007 Child Abuse Prevention/Strengthening Families Regional Meetings
  • Sharing our strategies: An opportunity for Child Abuse Prevention Council and Family Services Collaborative members, Children's Trust Fund grantees, Circle of Parents(r) participants, and Early Childhood Initiative participants and others to share what we all are doing, learn from one another, and have a dialogue. Please plan to discuss your program; feel free to bring information to share!
  • Child Abuse Prevention Council Needs Assessment Survey Results from the Children's Trust Fund
  • Fostering and Benefiting from Parent Leadership - a presentation from PCAMN
  • Information from each region's Initiative Foundation and Early Childhood Initiative

This session is free. If you are staying for both meetings, lunch will be provided.
